2017 Quilt Show Raffle Quilt

Congratulations to our 2017 Quilt Show Raffle Quilt Winner

- Nancy Klatt, Grand Forks, ND!

Quilt Show Committee Members who were able to attend the piecing retreat (l to r): Carmen Hanson, Pat Berg, Sharon Banister, Daphne Evenson, Linda Kacher. At the retreat, but not pictured: Sandra Schlagel, Kim Rhody and Joan Kuhn.

Our quilt show theme is "Every Quilt Has a Story" and this is also true of our raffle quilt. The raffle quilt top is now complete, and here is its quilt story so far:

Kim Rhody and Carmen Hanson chose the pattern and then purchased coordinating starter fabrics to be used as center pieces in each block. Thank you to the many guild members who took home the center squares to complete the blocks, using fabric from their own stash. Several members of the quilt show committee took the more than 150 completed blocks to a day-retreat where they spent six to seven hours each piecing and ironing the blocks. They arranged them on a design wall to work out the final design and then sewed 12 rows of 12 blocks together. Sharon Banister took the completed rows home and sewed them together. When she was finished we had a 94" x 94" stunning quilt top.

Our beautiful pieced quilt top was then given to long-arm quilter Gayle Liebe, who offered a reduced price for her services. She did a marvelous job and when she finished, she and Mary Mielke attached the binding.
